Intro - Linda
Hi, I'm Linda, and I live in Wisconsin. I enter our state fair, as I live in the county that hosts it, and we don't have a county fair. I've been entering items since 1998, when I finally asked for info on how to enter. Mostly I enter sewing and canning items, though I have at times entered knitting, photography, baking, and general food. My results from last year can be seen here.
Entry forms and fees were due to the Fair Office this past Friday. This year I'm doing something a bit different, as I decided to enter some items that I haven't finished yet. Usually I only enter items that I've already finished, as I don't like deadlines. However, my pickings were slim, and I figured I could finish up a few things in time. All entries, except canning, are due to the Fair on July 16, with judging on the 17th and 18th. My jam entries are due on July 24, with judging that afternoon. The Fair itself runs July 31- August 10.
Here are the categories I'm entering this year:
- Child's full costume
- Independent sewing pattern
- Pajamas, nightgown, or robe
- Serged item of clothing, using serging as main construction method
- Sweater, woman's pullover, sleeves, knitted
- Photography, botanical, flowers close up
- Photography, children, age 6-12
- Combined fruit jam
- Strawberry jam
Jam has not been made yet (we'll go strawberry picking next week). The sweater is my Notre Dame De Grace (that's a Ravelry link), and is almost done. I haven't decided which of my oldest's costumes I will enter; either the Pharaoh or the Jester (I'm leaning towards the Pharaoh). Photos are taken, just need to get the prints made, and make a final decision on which floral I like best. The rest I still have to make, but shouldn't be too bad. Wish me luck! ^_^

Good luck!

Wow, that is a lot! Best of luck. I can't wait to hear how it goes.
