2004.11.15

idiot on a moor

I have entered the zone of 10 WIPs. It's not pleasant. I can feel there will be drastic measures taken soon.  Gasp. I will actually block my Charlotte (that's all that needs to be done to it). Or I might risk my eyesight and push through to the end of the second Crusoe.  All before in-laws arrive on 11.18. Right?

This is the Ribby Cardi, in Lite Lopi Black Heather.

Ribby1

It's a yarn that I could tell would be impossible to photograph, and I was right. Imagine that it's very glossy black with silvery streaks and fuzz. (see here) The fuzz makes it almost impossible to see the ribs, which at first made me think this was a very wrong yarn for a cardi whose very nature is the ribs.  But then I realized that the one thing worrying me about the Ribby Cardi was just how ribby those sleeves look. I imagined them making my arms look like two Christmas hams. So this yarn is going to be just perfect.

Being the 10th WIP, I feel the Ribby Cardi should win some kind of prize, like when you're the 10000th customer at the grocery store and you get a baster.

p.s. Tell me what book my post title (very loosely related to heather) is from, and I'll send you a prize too. And not a baster.  Addendum: Prizes limited to the first 2 who googled, before I posted this addendum, and to the first person who tells me without googling.

Lady Chatterly's Lover, I believe. A book often quoted, yet I've not read...

I cheated with google.

I cheated with Google too. But I have read the book. The quote just didn't ring a bell.

I've cut my WIPs to 3 (with one very close to finished) so I feel a bad case of startitis coming on. And now I'll be able to rationalize it by saying, "Eight isn't bad. Larissa's got ten!"

Oh I knew it without googling :) Looks like I'm too late though. :)

no, I believe you Lisa! I'm very trusting. I just don't know how to run a little contest very well. So I will send you something too.

I'm impressed with ALL of you. Haven't read it yet - it was very hip as "dirty" lit in college. Larissa, watch out for the 10 WIP's - it'll get you! I've worked my way down to three - woohoo...

i have a rather strict sense of honor, so when i tell you i didnt google OR read other comments... please believe me? :)

lady chaterly's lover? i'm not sure how to spell it, and i read it AGES ago, but... that sticks in my head for some reason.

i passed 10 wip's within WEEKS of learning how to knit. 1 1/5 years later, and i doubt i even have 10 FO's to show for it... hah. watch out!
