tidepools & navigators
Today has been filled with watery thoughts. M was researching the book he's writing, and he told me how ancient Polynesian navigators would sail thousands of miles and find land that no one else could find, using the most subtle natural clues. I'm sure I'm drastically oversimplifying, but part of it was about the boat standing still and land coming to them, as if they were gathering fabric.
The pinwheel is all knitted, and it looks like something from an especially vivid tidepool. Like it would retract if you touched it. I like this about it, a lot. This is likely due to the fact that I crocheted more than 100 tentacles along the edges in brilliant lime green cotton.
A girl's gotta do something while lying around on bedrest.
The rest of my time I spend like a Polynesian navigator. Sitting still, willing ice cream and soda to come to me.
I got out of bed for a few minutes, just to document what my massive belly looks like at 33 weeks. For those who dared continue, here goes.
Not long now!

I'm on my way to help out my sister - she's finally in labor! I can't believe your finished your pinwheel! I'd love to see a picture of it laid out. I really like your border. Thanks!

The edge is very cool! I agree with Cara and would love to see a photo of it all laid out.

Those "tentacles" are great! Do we get a full shot of it? Hope you can get that ice cream thing to work out for you. :)

I love the pinwheel colors and love the fringe too. I'm into the picot thing recently. I hope you're feeling well because you're certainly looking good! Hope mr Baz is being good to you... (see you soon?)

I love your blanket! I've been obsessed with knitting that blanket lately. Dreamed about it and everything. How many yards did you end up using on the hole thing?

The blanket is FABULOUS! I love the edging. Too bad it's crochet, I can't do that, but if I make this blanket, I could try a picot edging that might look similar. I've never done one of those either, but I at least have confidence that I would be able to.
I obviously missed it, which surprises me because I read all of your entries.... Why are you on bedrest, if you don't mind me asking? I'm very sorry, and I hope it isn't serious. Once again, you're belly is about the cutest thing EVER!

OMG - I tried to make this blanket for the baby of friends (in yellow - to be like the sun). I love the colors you've used and the finished product is beautiful.
I love the pattern but I could NOT get it started. I had the hardest time. I've worked on dpns before and I really thought I could do it but after several frustrating days of trying, I gave up and started another pattern.
I'm sure I'll try again sometime . . .
