a host of pinwheels

I'm still so into this blankie pattern, and the stunning results, I decided to start a gallery & knitalong page.  It has a few tips, a link to the free pattern, border ideas, and hopefully-inspirational pictures.

The link to the gallery & knitalong page is in my photo albums at right.  And here is a peek at Adrian's blankie, the very first I'm entering into the gallery.

Please let me know if you are working on a pinwheel blanket, by commenting below or emailing me at knitme9 (at) larissabrown (dot) net, so I can add you.  Even if you are not finished yet, I'll link to your progress and then your finished blanket when the time comes.  Send me your email address, blog or web address, and any stats or info about your blankie such as yarn and needles you're using.  If you are willing to share a photo, please email it to me or point out where I can swipe it from your website.

Here's a button:

And ooh, how fun, here's how to make an actual pinwheel to go with your blankie.

The pinwheel blanket is a pretty cool pattern. I keep thinking it'd be weird to have a circle blanket, but they're so neat! :)

Its on my list for this summer's knitting, but not yet started - I'll certainly drop you another note when I cast on and have something to show.

I'm in! I've made one of these before, and I just needed an excuse to make another one. There's something about a pattern that spirals out from the center that just fascinates me. And I need a relatively mindless pattern to balance the lace I'm working on. You can't work on socks forever.

I'll pick some yarn from my stash and put up a picture in the next day or so.

You know -- I finished one just this time last week, and since then I washed it and ALL of the pretty hand dyed pastel colors DISAPPEARED! The yarn was from a stash swap but I know the person/artist who dyed it and she said the oxygen bleach in my detergent probably did this. Now I'm trying to figure out how to dye it for its intended recipient! An Ugly off-white chenille blankie is not a good thing!

Ach! You're killing me with the temptation. I'm undecided about yarn though. I'm thinking of doing it in a very slightly striated solid, like Manos Stria cotton, as I am worried about pooling of a variegated multi yarn as the pinwheel gets bigger. I love a circle blanket for a baby. Babies are round. Seems right.

Of course, I am always thinking about denim. I have some unplied denim so I could make one in a very light weight for a fadeable summer boy blankie.

You say it's a speedy project? It's fun to think about.

Nice you're still so busy at, um, this stage of things. xoxox Kay

I made a spiral blanket not too long ago for a co-worker with a new baby. I'm undecided, though, if I'll do another one for another expectant co-worker, or use a new pattern. Either way, it's a fun, unique project.

Count me in -- I started one last week and have a progress pic in my most recent (May 9) post. It's in ArtYarns Supermerino, color #101, and I'm LOVING it!

I've got the yarn ordered and the needles on stand-by. The intended recipeint won't be here until September.

Totally take my pictures - once I get a better one with my nephew in it - I'll pass it along.

Great idea!
Thanks!

Hmmm. I know I'll knit it eventually, but I'm not in a position to commit to one more thing right now. I'll certainly enjoy watching everyone else's.

Congratulations to you and your new family. You did it! Sounds like it was a bit of a tough labor, according to your friend Sarah's account, but I look forward to hearing your version, if you're up for sharing it with us. Until then, enjoy these precious new days.
