just in time

Jaywalkerskoolaid

The picture is not good, I apologize. But I had to get this up just in time to start something new for the Olympics today!  The jaywalker pattern is wonderful. A little gem of a sock pattern. The yarn I used was knitpicks color your own, which I dyed with koolaid, on size 2.5 needles.

Things I'm going to do differently next time (because I do plan another pair):  I'm going to knit these tighter, with a stiffer fabric. They're very comfortable for inside the house, but when I want to wear them with shoes they bunch up around the heel and toes. Also I'm going to use some different yarn. This one was so fun to work with, but it's making my toes itch, and yesterday I wore these hiking and when my feet sweated I could smell the koolaid. Weird.

I have some Lorna's Laces in Shadow that I can't wait to try with this pattern. But recently I also spent a huge amount of money on Blue Moon yarns at Farmhouse Knit Shop. I've got some of the new heavy weight Socks That Rock.  Hmmmm.

That colorway is incredibly pretty...and yes, the kool-aid smell can stick around for a while. When I dyed some sock yarn for a friend, the yarn was still fragrant when she got them months after the dye job and several washes. (sigh)

very purty. I've been thinking about making a pair of jaywalkers for some time...

Kool-aid sweat? That actually sounds kinda good... Cool be much much worse (remember yarn harlot's goat incident?). LOL!!

Anyhow, the colors are great and the interval you used works perfectly with the pattern.

Congrats on your win! Great socks, too!

So you are Larissa and I am Laritza. My name came from the Dr. Zhivago book there they spelled it either way.
