To paraphrase a satisfied buyer on amazon who bought a used book from my husband...It was as if a rocket ship took the aprons from Monica and rocketed them to my house. She already sent me three beautiful aprons, one of them delicously frilly and retro looking. Thank you, sugar roux!

After spending some time thinking through all our volunteer roles for the night of the Cafe au Play auction we find that we need just 30 aprons (not 40). Well that's easier! In fact, when you look at it with this fresh perspective - and with all the wonderful people who've signed up and pledged to make aprons all tallied and figured in - we are at 70% of our apron goal!
We need only 9 more - a very doable number for me and my sweatshop laborers close friends to pick up the slack on if I don't get any more online offers. Then all our day-of-event volunteers at the Novebmer 4 auction will be wearing handmade aprons that are up for bidding on, with a goal of making at least $1000 from aprons alone.
In answer to some basic questions, you can use any pattern you like but we are hoping for a majority of the aprons to be waist-down models to leave room for volunteers' name tags. Long or short, etc., are all open to interpretation, and we have men as well as women who need to be beaproned.
I just sent out an email to everyone who pledged to make an apron and for whom I have an email address. If you did not get it, please contact me at dumbmail @ larissabrown . net with your email address, so I can send you the details.
I grabbed your button and blogged about the drive in my post this morning - hopefully you'll get your last nine people soon. I know that you're busy with the book, but have you considered getting more people to sign up and doing an on-line gallery and auction as well? Could be good. If you get enough other bloggers behind you, it could raise some significant money, too. Just a thought.
