This is the best recipe for complete ease, amazingly delicious result, and impressing everyone who eats it.
Thanks to my friend Stevanie, who made it up and who transferred the knowledge to me one night while she was utterly high on painkillers after surgery. I was skeptical. I saw how stoned she was. Turns out, she couldn't walk but she could remember her cookin'. It is wonderful. Especially served with some sour cream, a little grated cheese and fancy salt.
This is one of those recipes I've mentioned before that takes canned ingredients, but I use organic ones usually. I'm sure you could make it with the most lovely, organic, freshly chopped and soaked ingredients, or with the most low cans of bargain beans. I bet it is delicious any way you make it.
In a big pot, saute some onions & butter (about 1 big onion). Careful not to burn. Sometimes soup pots are not great for sauteing.
Add in 4 cans black beans.
And 2 big cans chopped tomatoes.
Add in 1.5 cups raisins.
Add 4 tablespoons chili powder, 4 teaspoons cumin, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, and several dashes of pepper.
Add some water, maybe a cup or 1.5 cups. It will thicken up some as it cooks.

I can tell that I am going to like this. Thank you!

This sounds very good! I never would have thought to add raisins to my chilli - but it sounds awesome!

The Christmas Eve Chili is in the skillet as we speak!! Used this recipe two years in a row now, it was a >huge< hit last year and I'm sure it will be again. Oh, the house smells amazing!!

Larissa, can you recall how many one recipe amount will serve? I think I doubled it one year and fed abut 12 people who had seconds and some thirds. After that it was essentially all eaten. I may wish to use this for a fundraiser for our adoption and I am trying to work out serving sizes and cost to create it so I can come up with a cover charge. Yum to the yummiest!! This is so good. :-P
